Amy was born on April 29, 1986. She grew up in Seward, Nebraska. Her mother is a first-grade teacher and her father sells fiberglass and storm-damage supplies. She discovered her voice in sixth-grade when her classmates thought she was lip-synching after she performed for them. She was accepted to Berklee College of Music on a scholarship to study songwriting, performance, and business.
Meeting with NickEdit
Amy attended Berklee on a scholarship. There, she met Nick Noonan. Nick was on his way to become a professional trombonist. The pair, who became a couple, worked on music for assignments together, but they weren't able to collaborate professionally until they graduated. They formed the band Karmin while they were studying, which is a hybrid of the word "carmen," the Latin word for sing and Karma.
